How does one describe Minecraft to a confused adult?

By Calvin Redmond

If you find yourself in a position where you have to explain Minecraft to a confused mum, the nicest thing you can do is (quietly) emphasize the many awards it has won and downplay its popularity.

Your knee-jerk response could be shock blended with confusion, but saying, Everybody plays it ! To a bewildered parent will get you nowhere. Potentially, grounded if your ma and pa take everything in life too seriously. And, honestly, not everybody does play it, just the smart people who can?t imagine life without it.

So if your parent is querying Minecraft and arguing with you over how you pass the time, tell them it was awarded the Invention Award, Best Downloadable Game Award, and a Golden Joystick Award.

Therefore , by receiving such awards it inspires us, the players, to be imaginative and leading edge to form our own games. There's so much creative freedom in this game! But do not emphasise that too much, infrequently things like creative liberty? Scare parents into thinking we are not doing any academic.

Tell them this great game has sold over 20 million copies and perhaps they ought to consider purchasing stock. The game was moneymaking after only 24 hours on the market. As a gamer and keen on being able to buy cool stuff, that absolutely inspires me to try and be leading edge as well.

And, if that does not work, (sorry kid) tell your mother and father the way in which the game develops survival talents as we maintain our health through hunger and hardship. This game of survival is preparing youngsters for real life. This game is harder than life.

If your mum and dad are still clueless about how important Minecraft is to you, show them some Minecraft video guides and just get them to play one game. Perhaps two. After 2 games they will without question understand how amazing and life changing this game really is to each player.
