Consequences Of Sci Fi Games In The Development Of Children

By Patrice McCoy

Science fiction is a category of stories which entails coming up with findings with regards to technological innovation. It brings together current and past circumstances from to come up with a whole new idea, which though partly overstated contains some factors based on facts. Sci fi games depend on this idea hence developing an exclusive world where gamers can contend using a personality that they can control.

From the parent's viewpoint, the gaming events are commendable, as they are a realistic ways to encourage their children to remain indoors. In addition the children can spend time and take part in competitions with their friends at the pleasure of where they stay. This is facilitated by the fact that the game has a multiplayer online interface. This would beneficial given the criminal levels in most areas in the west where the parents are consistently away from their children due to work obligations.

The competitions are said to be instrumental in introducing and opening the mind of children to technology. These helps boost their innovation potential as well as develop an imaginative mind. The competitions contain virtual technology devices that develop an interest in learning how these virtual devices operate in real life. The knowledge in technology places the children in a better position as they face the real life situations in a world that depends heavily on technology.

On the flip side though, most of the activities mentioned do more harm than good. Most of them use war and fights as a tactic for the players to get ahead. The person who slays most opponents in their quest for victory is deemed the hero. This cultivates a violent culture in the sub-conscious mind of the player. Studies have shown that children who played violent activities were observed to be more aggressive than their peers who did not.

Sci-fi games have also been shown to impact the mind, particularly with regards to issues that require them to pay attention, focus, restrain themselves or give an emotional response. Kids who often time spend extended hours enjoying these gaming controls have a lower reaction to psychological issues and their focus on things that are less imaginary is questionable.

According to Dr. Paul Grasby of Hammersmith Hospital in London, playing these gaming events is chemically addictive. A hormone called Dopamine which is associates with pleasure is proven to be produced two times more in player's minds than in people who do not play. These explain why most people are addicted to the game.

A person can be too engrossed into the virtual world that they lose touch with the real world. This is observed in a child's inability to socialize and make real friends. These children may be observed to have imaginary friends who are characters in their favorite sporting events, whom they treat as though they were alive and part of their social life. This behavior may be carried on to adulthood, making the person in question to be a social misfit with no friends.

In order to help children create and maintain healthy relationships, all parents should take it upon themselves to include outdoor activities to the child's play routine. The outdoor activities include human connections and help improve their social skills. The demerits of sci fi games far outweigh the merits.
