Three Famous Common Super Mario Games

By Steve Holt

In the past several decades, many game systems have been for sale. Nintendo made a very popular game system. The system was named the Nintendo NES, which stands for Nintendo Entertainment System. Today, Super Mario games are still very popular. They are considered to be one of the best-selling games of all time. Many different versions of this game have been created for different systems.

Super Mario Brothers is a game that came with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). In this game, which has a two-player mode, the protagonist must face many obstacles, such as pesky critters and treacherous paths that require a lot of athleticism, to save Princess Toadstool from evil King Koopa, the antagonist.

The main character makes his way through the levels in a left-to-right direction. Along the way, the character has the opportunity to collect coins, extra lives, and various power-ups. The two power-ups featured in this game are the mushroom, which makes the character big; and a flower, which gives him firepower to shoot most of his enemies off the screen. This game has 32 levels in eight different worlds.

Super Mario 2 is unlike the first. Two versions of the second game exist. One is the Lost Levels and the other is Super Mario 2. Lost Levels was only released in Japan due to concerns that the game was too difficult for other people in other countries.

In the second game, the main character has a nightmare. The protagonist discovers his nightmare after the end of the game. This game gives players the option to choose four different characters. Each of these characters can do different things. For example, the princess can glide, while Luigi can jump higher.

Characters have to throw items at other enemies in order to kill them. Enemies cannot be jumped on and killed. There are no question boxes in this game. If a player wants to get a power-up, they have to find a potion, drop it on the ground, go in the door, and find the power-up.

One interesting thing about this game is the final boss. To knock the boss out of the game, vegetables have to be thrown in his mouth. After he is knocked out of the game, a door opens and the player goes to a celebration ceremony. After the ceremony, Mario wakes up from his nightmare and realizes it's just a dream.

Last but not least, another major game in the series is Super Mario Brothers 3. Many people consider this to be one of the best games in this series. This one is more similar to the first one than it is to the second, as it features a two-player mode.

One thing that makes this one standout is the power-ups. The mushroom and the flower do exist in this game and do serve the same function as they do in the first. However, there's also a leaf, which turns characters into a raccoon; a hammer brother suit; a frog suit; or a tenuki suit. Each one of these power-ups is unique in its own way.

Opportunities to collect power-ups throughout the game are ample. The nice thing about this game is that the power-ups can be used on the map where the levels are selected. This is the only game in the series that offers this option. This option makes it much easier to beat this game.

This group of three NES games is considered the most popular series ever. Many Super Mario games that are created today use ideas from this series of games.
