This game challenges you to take on the persona of a Great Mage and found a fantastical empire. Other unique buildings should be placed upon unique terrain which is scattered around the world. These give more powerful unit upgrades and a greater amount of resources.
Your armies also need leaders. Leaders appear randomly, although you can sometimes choose one at the start of the game. Other times they will appear at your capital and offer to join your armies for a fee. Powerful in their own right, giving them with magical gear, then forging their abilities in the crucible of battle gives them incredible value against both computer-controlled forces and other human players.
You build your armies out of both normal forces (like humans and gnomes) and magical beings like ghosts and minotaurs, each with its own unique pros and cons. One thing all your units have in common is the ability to improve their combat and survival skills as they gain experience, and some earn combat spells too. With all the possibilities, you will need to develop effective tactics for choosing and upgrading your units and utilizing their unique abilities if you want to succeed at the higher levels of the game.
In Warlock Master of the Arcane, individual leaders and army units are not the only spellcasters. As the Great Mage leading your empire, you can master dozens of arcane spells of all sorts. You will gain the ability to:
